This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcasts

For October 14th, 2006

You have heard the news; now, the analysis…

Fellow Biafrans:

First, we will bring you the welcome news that our brothers and sisters in the UK organized and conducted a successful pro-MASSOB pro-Biafra Protest-Rally in London last Saturday. But, we want to deal with another issue before that, an issue which reveals the depth of disrepute and dishonor, to which those in the political class who claim to lead the Igbo have sunken.

The current news is that Peter Obi, the so-called governor of Anambra State, has “donated” N150 Million worth of equipment to the Nigeria Police Anambra State Police Command.  The donations include 20 vehicles, over 500 communication equipment and accessories, and a 50 KV power generating set; a refund of the costs of renovating the police headquarters in Awka and sinking a borehole for the command. The Nigeria Police responded by revealing and justifying this gift as reward for their work thus:

“a)  a total of 210 suspected members of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) were arrested within three months.

“b) 35 MASSOB members were said to have been killed during confrontations.

“c) rifles, guns, rounds of ammunition and live cartridges were recovered from suspected MASSOB members.

“d) the stronghold of the MASSOB members had finally been dislodged, adding that the activities of the group had tremendously been silenced by the operations of the police command.”

Peter Obi’s actions in the light of this public admission by the Nigeria Police are so outrageous and awful that we are left speechless: we don’t know where to even start. We can ask what Peter Obi has done for our people in Anambra that he should find spare funds to finance the Nigeria Police State Command in Anambra. Has he provided public transportation for the people, that he should donate 20 vehicles to the Police?  What type of public communication facilities has Obi installed for our people in Anambra that he should be donating over 500 pieces of equipment to the Nigeria Police? While our people and any indigenous surviving industries have suffered from perpetual blackouts, Obi sees fit to send a Generator to the Nigeria Police? And, while our people thirst and cry for potable water, Obi is only too happy to pay for a borehole for the use of the Nigeria Police.  We cannot find the adjectives to describe the insanity of Peter Obi and his sycophantic love affair with the Nigeria Police, a Force with the blood of our innocent and unarmed people on its hands.

Especially considering that in an earlier sane and honest moment, the same Peter Obi had finally admitted that MASSOB members were not responsible for the mayhem in Onicha. He and everyone know that it was NARTO and its membership and sponsors—of which Obasanjo and his Nigeria Police are the chief sponsors—who caused and sustained the trouble in Onicha. How come it is, then, that the Nigeria Police is now being rewarded for its unjustified and unjustifiable attack and murder of MASSOB members in Anambra? Or, is Peter Obi so dumb that he fails to understand that the Nigeria Police Anambra State Command is stating that its only task is to eliminate MASSOB from Anambra; and that Peter Obi’s gifts are the reward to that Command for doing a “good job” of killing MASSOB members in Anambra?

So, we hold Peter Obi fully responsible for the killing of these MASSOB members officially admitted by the Nigeria Police, the arrest and imprisonment of the others, and the destruction of MASSOB property under any guise by the Nigeria Police. Hear the Nigeria Police lie once again about MASSOB. Everyone knows that MASSOB is non-violent, because God knows that if the membership of MASSOB were to fight against Nigeria Police, the police will run away, “AWOL”; the people know that, too, and the Police knows that very well, also. Regardless, MASSOB is committed to non-violence. But the Police uses lies to cover up its weakness and its wickedness; and now, the Nigeria Police has an ally in an Igbo—so-called State Governor, Peter Obi—to legitimize its lies and to reward it for harassing and killing innocent, unarmed Igbo.

Fellow Biafrans: now is the time to ostracize Peter Obi. We hope that he has bought and prepared his residence in exile, because, one of these days, Nigeria will fail completely, and his protection by Obasanjo and the Nigeria Police who have used him to kill our people, will evaporate: the people will have the last say with Obi. 2007 approaches rather fast: Peter Obi has an appointment with Biafra People’s court very soon. We also trust that you, Biafrans, can now understand why we must boycott any future elections in Nigeria.  That way, we will know for certain that no one in the political class was elected or sent by our people: we will understand that the political class is part of the enemy, and we can relate to them as such.  This political class has done nothing but aid Nigeria in killing our people, just like Peter Obi has done now.

We urge all of our people in Anambra, if you get this message early enough, to refuse to go and line-up for Obasanjo since Peter Obi is asking you to do so, so that his slave-Master, Obasanjo, will continue to find favor with him. Peter Obi is so stupid that he does not understand that those who kowtow and worship Obasanjo always end up as the dust under Obasanjo’s feet—a picture which Obasanjo relishes very much. Besides, no Igbo or Biafran should show up to cheer Obasanjo, the greatest tormentor, hater and killer of Igbo and Biafrans today.

As we started to tell you earlier, we are happy to announce the spectacular Protest for the release of Ralph Uwazurike, the leader of MASSOB, Uchenna Madu, the Information Director of MASSOB, other MASSOB leadership and members, a protest combined with a pro-Biafra Rally, in UK this past Saturday. This pro-MASSOB pro-Biafra rally was led by a Biafran and a pro-Biafran Briton in London in front of the Nigeria Embassy, and it was fortuitous that it rained heavily during the protest, because in so doing, even Mother Nature Herself was highlighting the commitment and determination of our people, adding to the complete success and effectiveness of the protest-rally. We are immensely grateful to the participants and their leaders, and we are confident that our people and Biafra sympathizers in UK have set an example in courage, and started a trend which will spread throughout the rest of UK, Europe, and the world. Besides our gratitude, they have our fullest and unflinching support.

Fellow Biafrans: take a look around you; see that Nigeria is finished but for its settling corpse. Maintain your focus, remain committed, do your part: Biafra cometh, quick!

Biafra alive! Because it is God Who makes it so.

That’s the News Analysis for the week.   Thank you.
