This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcasts

For August 12th, 2006

You have heard the news; now, the analysis…

Fellow Biafrans:

We must not let our focus on the evils of Nigeria, of which there are plenty—in fact, the Evil that is Nigeria—detract from the fact that YOU are indeed the hope of Africa, the hope of even those who may choose to remain in Nigeria after formal Biafra Actualization which is certainly coming. YOU are the only ones standing for truth, for justice and for sane governance and for something as simple as common sense. YOU are the only ones standing in the way of runaway hypocrisy and corruption, deceit and greed, and poor governance. YOU are the only ones who have taken a practical stand against ongoing oppression of man by fellow man in Nigeria. YOU are not just sitting idle, hopeless and despondent, helpless and resigned: no, YOU are doing something about the situation.

Who are YOU? YOU are those Biafrans committed to Biafra actualization.

What are YOU doing—how are you opposing this evil called Nigeria? Actualizing Biafra; by actualizing Biafra—by standing firm on this action.

What is the expected result of your actions? Liberation of Biafra and Biafrans from enslavement in Nigeria. A secondary direct effect is the breaking of the evil hold called Nigeria on the hapless peoples forcefully yoked together in a designed-to-fail and destined-to-collapse unsound structure called Nigeria, thereby liberating the different ethnic nations and allowing them to follow each its own path of progress and fulfillment, a path which allows for mutually agreed upon and consensual inter-national relationships.

So, do not underestimate what YOU are doing, and what YOU stand for. There are, unfortunately, Biafrans belonging to the Nigerian political class, along with the elite class and those in Diaspora, who have participated and are still participating in the corruption and hypocrisy called Nigeria. They not only watch Obasanjo steal from the public, cheat the peoples, pontificate from sermon pulpits on Sundays, and lie: they think nothing of it, do not challenge him and his administration, but actually, are actively soliciting jobs and favors from the same dishonest Obasanjo and his fraudulent government.  These are the same mix who look to rule and run Nigeria should Nigeria continue to survive: you can see at once why there is no hope for Nigeria—neither at the present time nor in the future. For Nigeria, it is always going to be “business as usual,” which means, “’worse and worser,’ continue until destruction.”

This means that, left on its own, this group will continue to drive this vicious personal, private and political machinery called Nigeria which runs over the peoples without sensitivity and without mercy;  and with leprous fingers, gathers to corrupt all the good in the land, and like a monster, sucks up the remaining life force in the peoples, until there is nothing more to destroy.

Fellow Biafrans, by your insisting on Biafra, and by your dedicating yourselves to this goal of Biafra actualization, YOU are really the only Moral Force standing between the peoples and their total destruction by amoral Nigeria—not just the people of Biafra, but all other peoples of all the other nations involved with Nigeria. Because, what YOU are telling Nigeria and the world—and God, for that matter—by your stand and action, is that YOU will not go along with the evil called Nigeria; that YOU will not succumb to the evil called Nigeria, and that YOU will take our people and other peoples out of the inexorable path of corruption, danger and destruction, a path along which Nigeria and its Ruling / Beneficiary class certainly is stuck traveling. So, know and understand that the role YOU are playing by dedication to Biafra actualization exemplifies the utmost effort called for in the face of such great danger to a people and or peoples by a determined and mindless life-wasting machinery such as Nigeria.

In this light, one can see the great injustice being perpetrated by Nigeria by Obasanjo and his government by their continuing to hold Ralph Uwazurike, the leader of MASSOB in prison, and Uchenna Madu, the Information Director of MASSOB, along with other leaders and members of MASSOB who have been in jail for months on end because of pro-Biafran non-violent activities. We also now add to that list the hundreds of other MASSOB members rounded up and jailed en masse by the Nigeria Police and Nigeria Military in their recent “hunt-down-MASSOB-members” exercise in Onicha and elsewhere in Anambra. This recent Nigeria’s exercise is even more senseless, because the Nigeria Police admits, in so many words, that their own action has become uncontrollable and the results unmanageable: they cannot give an account of the persons arrested and jailed, nor are these cases and related processes being handled in any legal way at all.

We therefore continue our call for the release of Uwazurike, Madu, and all members of MASSOB currently being held in any jail in Nigeria because of their pro-Biafran stand. We make this call to Obasanjo, on whose orders these arrests and imprisonments have been made; need we remind him that no one is causing the disintegration of Nigeria faster than he, Obasanjo himself is, by his other actions which are now in the public domain? We also invite the International Community to bring pressure to bear on Obasanjo to release our people. MASSOB is a known, disciplined non-violent organization.

We also want the International Community to admit what it already knows: Nigeria is bound to disintegrate. We want the International Community to admit that Obasanjo’s government policies and his personal behavior will certainly hasten such disintegration and make it quite bloody.  What MASSOB offers in this circumstance to Nigeria and the World at large is a negotiated separation which avoids bloodshed and social dislocations, as well as avoiding economic and market disruptions with global impact and implications.  MASSOB’s way seeks a peaceful, non-violent  separation of Nigeria, with the added benefit of preserving goodwill among the peoples, and the opportunity for easy mutual, consenting, respectful, reciprocal and equitable future inter-national relationships, leading to the restoration of stability in the region. For these reasons, MASSOB members and leaders, including Ralph Uwazurike and Uchenna Madu, need to be released from jail at this time.

Biafra alive! Because it is God Who makes it so.

That’s the News Analysis for the week.   Thank you.
